Zeus- ADOPTED! the Sphinx Dog at PAWS in Rutherford County
I'm trying to add a picture of Zeus, as the video below doesn't seem to play. Today I heard him make a sound for the first time. He laid on his back and cried when attacked by a female pit bull. We pulled them apart, but he was clearly shaken, and wanted reassurance from us. Later in the day when I took him out again, he walked a bit and then came and put his head on my lap. He has played with this dog before, but today she wasn't having it, and she went after his throat, even after we got them apart.
He has been at the shelter longer than any other dog, and we know what that means. He's listed as a Pit mix, but he has large, splayed paws that are webbed, so something else is in there. I call him the Sphinx dog because he sits in his kennel like the Egyptian pictures of royal dogs as he waits. I have NEVER heard him bark, even as the dogs on either side of him are going off. He has spent half of his puppyhood at the shelter, and he runs like the wind with his play buddies in the free run yard. He's quite strong, and his energy is now focused on training. He does the agility course well for a beginner. He is very affectionate and is a staff favorite. He pulls when walked, however, and a slight person can't hold him. We're working on that too, as well as "Sit" and "Watch Me." We'd love to see Zeus go to a home with a fenced yard where he can run outside when he's not sitting at your feet indoors.
